The
Delaware Valley Chapter of “Nam Knights Of America MC”
welcomes you to its website. The Parent Chapter of the “Nam
Knights Of America MC” was formed in 1989 by Jack Quigley,
a Nam Vet and police officer. Today there are 29 Chapters throughout
10 eastern states. The Delaware Valley Chapter was started in
2001 by Dave “Wrongway” Lewis, who has since started
a new Chapter, the “Free State Chapter,” in Montgomery
County MD.
Membership
in the “Nam Knights” is restricted to Vietnam Vets,
police officers, veterans of other eras and a few “confirmed
civilians.” Initially, the club was formed to rekindle
the sense of brotherhood experienced in Vietnam --- a brotherhood
known only to those who have entrusted their lives to their
fellow soldier, Marine, airman or seaman. Since police officers
routinely put their lives on the line for others and since many
Nam Knights were also police officers, membership was also extended
to include these individuals.
The
“Nam Knights’” designated mission is to honor
the memory of ALL American Veterans and Police Officers, who
have made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of this nation and
cities; to assist veterans and police officers in their time
of need; and to advance community awareness of the Club and
its operations through promotion and participation in community
and fund-raising events.
The
Delaware Valley Chapter is comprised of members representing
all branches of the Armed Forces, police officers (active and
retired), and corrections officers. All members ride Harley
Davidson motorcycles, or custom cycles with the appearance and
construction of a Harley Davidson, with its engine parts interchangeable
with Harley Davidson. Engine size is mandated at a minimum of
750cc.
In
order to become a member, one must first attain “Hang
Around’ status, which requires introduction by a current
member or a “self- introduction” to the “general
membership” and participating in some of the Club functions
and/or rides. After a period of ninety (90) days, a member can
sponsor the “Hang Around” for consideration of becoming
a “Prospect.” This is done at a Regular Monthly
Meeting and requires a unanimous vote of the members in attendance.
Once “Prospect” status is attained, an additional
“probationary period” of ninety (90) days is required
before the “Prospect” can be considered for “Full
Membership.” Once again, this is done at a Regular Monthly
Meeting and requires a unanimous vote of the members in attendance.
The
“Delaware Valley Chapter Nam Knights Of America MC”
seeks those who share the same values and goals as those who
currently live and promote those values and goals.
